Club Advisor and Coach - Shane Agan
Shane has been coaching for 11 years now. 3 years of jr. high volleyball, 3 years of high school volleyball, this will be his 8th year of club. He played volleyball in college, the Air Force, and played 2 years of outdoor reverse co-ed. He has a Bachelors degree in Sports Medicine (Athletic training) and was the Athletic Trainer for the George Fox Lady Bruins volleyball team in 1995 and 1996. He is currently retired from the Air Force after 20 years of service and now the Head Coach for Kingsway Christian Middle School.
Club Director and Coach - Miranda Coonrod
Miranda has been with Fire Volleyball Club from the very beginning. She has been coaching club a total of 12 years and was a junior club player for 3 years. While in high school, Miranda played on the varsity team for 3 years as the middle blocker and was awarded MVP by her team mates and coaches. During this time she was also a volunteer coach for the Community Education Program. After High School Miranda went on to play middle blocker for Clark College. Miranda had the #1 blocking average and the 11th best hitting average in 2003. She was also awarded 2nd Team All League. Miranda has a true passion for creating a safe and healthy environment for our youth to thrive on and off the court..
Assistant Coach - Erik Jutila
Erik has played competitive indoor, beach and grass volleyball for the last six years, and is entering his second season as a club coach. He was assistant coach for the Northwest Juniors’ (formerly Nike) 16U team. During the 2009-2010 indoor season Erik was team representative, captain, and outside hitter for the Riverview Men’s team that took two first place and a second place finish in three consecutive CEVA adult tournaments. During the summer he plays reverse co-ed at the open level, and sand doubles at AA. Erik also spent one year as a volunteer assistant basketball coach for the Washington School for the Deaf Terriers. This will be Eriks 5th year as an assistant coach with us!
Coach and Setting Specialists - Jon Beuselinck
Jon has played club volleyball for five years and competed in 3 national tournaments. As a starting setter, Jon hopes to bring some good insight for our young setters and other players. He has also managed varsity high school teams and was a professional referee during high school. Jon is still active in volleyball as a player and has been a part of our organization for 5 years. Jon will be an extremely valuable resource for all setters involved in our club!
Coach - Kelsey Kai
Kelsey captained her Reynolds high school team as a senior and graduated from Reynolds in 2009. She was named team MVP as a junior and senior, was a two-time winner of the Raider Award, selected for the National Guard “You Can” Award and was a three-time all-conference selection. She also played for the Northwest Juniors Club for seven years. She went on to play volleyball at Mt. Hood Community College during the 2009-10 and 2010-11 academic years where she was two-time all-conference selection as Libero. Kelsey was a Defensive Specialist for Concordia University. She aspires to be an elementary school teacher and coach high school volleyball. This is Kelsey third year coaching with Fire and we are honored she is a part of our team!
Coach - Maggie Poland
Maggie has been playing volleyball for over 12 years. She played High School and Club Volleyball acting as the Captain of her teams. As a Fire Alumni, she has a passion to give back to the club that helped her grow, not only as a player, but as an individual. Maggie is a kindergarten teacher and aspires to a be a High School Varsity Coach. Her continued passion for volleyball led her to playing in intramural leagues and coaching for the YMCA over the last 5 years. This will be Maggie’s second year as a Coach for Fire and we are so exited to welcome her back to our organization!
Coach and Club Athletic Trainer - Wyatt Poland
Wyatt studied Exercise Science at George Fox University and minored in coaching. He played NCAA collegiate baseball, and found a passion for volleyball while playing intramural volleyball and further studying the sport. Wyatt now works full time as a personal trainer at 24 Hour Fitness and specializes in working with elite athletes who strive to take their sport to the next level. This will be Wyatt’s first year with Fire VBC.
